Aging In Place Interior Design

Certified Aging In Place Specialist (CAPS)

Linda Sue Shirkey, owner of Production & Design, Inc., is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS).

This designation is awarded by the National Association of Homebuilders, and to obtain it, Linda Sue had to take a number of courses on design and build solutions for aging and accessibility remodels.

As more people decide to stay in their homes, for longer periods of time, aging in place offers a few distinct benefits.

If you can remodel the home, condo, or townhome that you are living in now to make it safe and easy for you to continue living there, why not do it? You can stay in the place you love and avoid the hassle of moving.

Remodeling a kitchen, bathroom, or other part of your home to include handicap accessible accommodations makes a lot of sense – not only for today’s needs, but also for future needs.

There is a misconception that handicap accessible modifications are unattractive. Thanks to an explosion of demand for aging in place solutions, manufacturers of all types are coming up with great products. From cabinets with roll-out trays to walk-in bathtubs, task lighting to safe selections in flooring, the possibilities are almost endless.

If you have been considering making modifications to your home, we would be happy to meet with you to talk about your options – many of which can be both functional and beautiful!
